Privacy Policy for CertamenPrep

Information We Collect

CertamenPrep collects the following information:

• Email address and name (via Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple)
• Quiz performance, mastery progress, streak, and practice session history
• Questions you miss in Challenge Mode (stored so you can review them)
• Free-text follow-up questions you type to the AI Tutor (see below)

Guest mode lets you use Practice without creating an account. Guest progress stays on your device until you sign in.

AI Explanations and AI Tutor

CertamenPrep offers optional AI features powered by Google Gemini:

• Explain with AI — sends the Certamen question (and related answer context) to our servers, which call Gemini to generate an educational explanation. Explanations may be cached so repeat requests do not call Gemini again.
• AI Tutor follow-ups — if you type a custom follow-up question, that text is sent to our servers and then to Gemini to generate a response. Daily limits apply.

These AI features are for educational help with Latin and Roman Certamen topics. Do not submit personal information, passwords, or sensitive data in AI prompts. Prompt text and generated responses are processed by Google Gemini under Google’s terms and privacy practices for that service. We use the responses to show you help in the app; we do not sell this content.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Authenticate your account (Google or Apple)
• Save and display your quiz progress and statistics
• Provide Review, Challenge, Practice, and optional AI help
• Enforce AI Tutor daily usage limits
• Improve the app experience

Third-Party Services

• Supabase — authentication and database storage for accounts and progress
• Google Sign-In / Sign in with Apple — identity providers for login
• Google Gemini — generation of AI explanations and tutor replies (via our backend)

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Data Storage

Account and progress data are stored securely with Supabase. Some preferences and Practice progress may also be stored locally on your device.

Account Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated cloud data at any time from Home in the app. If you no longer have the app installed, email support@certamenprep.org to request deletion, and we will permanently delete your account and associated data within 30 days.
